The prophecy of independent spring, moistened by rain, finally stirred by the plump spring thunder, the dormant insects and stings broke through the ground, blending with the spring light and the growth of all things. At this moment, the earth is full of vitality. The spring season is delayed, and finally the theme is played. March 5th this year is the awakening of insects in the 24 solar terms, the third solar term in the 24 solar terms, marking the beginning of the midsummer season; The sun reaches the yellow longitude of 345 degrees. At this time, the weather warms up and spring thunder gradually appears. Animals hide in the soil in winter and do not drink or eat, known as “Zhe”. “Jingzhe” refers to the day when the heavens awaken hibernating animals with thunder. At this time, most parts of our country entered the spring plowing season, and the vitality of Zepi benefited all things. It was a festival full of red and purple colors, competing for beauty.
Activities during the Jingzhe Festival
AWAKENING OF INSECTS
In order to help children understand the climate characteristics, agricultural practices, and customs of the “Jingzhe” solar term from various aspects, our kindergarten has launched a series of activities called “Spring Thunder, Everything Grows”, leading children to experience the culture of the “Jingzhe” solar term and go to a grand opening ceremony where “Jingzhe” and “Growth” meet.
The teacher interpreted the solar term culture of “Jingzhe” through various forms, guiding children to discover the characteristics and changes of the Jingzhe solar term independently through games and creative drawings, allowing children to understand the solar term, enter the solar term, and know that the iconic feature of the Jingzhe solar term is the sudden movement of spring thunder and the vitality of all things, feeling the beauty of the cycle of time and life.
The babies also played the transmission game of “stir frying soybeans”. “Spring thunder startles a hundred insects,” it is said to scare away pests with the crackling sound of stir frying beans, protect crops, and ensure a good harvest for a year.
With the sound of spring thunder, all the little insects that had been hiding for a winter were awakened. The children and the teacher carefully searched for the traces of the small insects, explored the mysteries of nature on the day of Jingzhe, and created a creative painting of the seven star ladybug Jingzhe.
Health Preservation during the Jingzhe Festival
Nourish Yang and Protect Liver, Eat Less Acid
From a dietary perspective, due to the correspondence between spring and the liver, improper health preservation can harm the liver. Drinking, eating, and living should conform to the liver’s nature, benefit the spleen, and bring peace to the five internal organs. It is advisable to eat more light foods rich in plant protein and vitamins, and less animal fat foods. You can eat more foods such as spinach, water radish, bitter gourd, ear fungus, celery, rapeseed, yam, etc.
In addition, the principle of “nourishing yang in spring and summer” should be followed, and it is appropriate to eat more foods that can enhance yang energy, such as leeks, spinach, mustard, scallions, etc. Therefore, when the liver is in full swing, it is easy to hurt the temper. Therefore, we should eat less sour food and more sweet food such as jujube, crispy rice and yam to nourish the spleen. It can be made into jujube Congee and yam Congee.
Eat more pears during the Jingzhe season
In folk customs, there is a custom of Jingzhe eating pears. Some people say that “pear” sounds like “li”. Jingzhe eating pears can keep pests away from crops. In addition, Jingzhe eating pears has health benefits. After Jingzhe, the climate warms up, and the body is prone to external coughing, dry mouth, and tongue. Pears have a slightly cold and sweet nature, which can moisten the lungs and stop coughing.
Drink more water and eat more seasonal wild vegetables
Mid spring is a season that is prone to heat, and if there is less rain or drought, the body is more prone to dryness. It’s best to get up with a glass of water in the morning at this time, preferably plain water. Drinking water can help eliminate toxins and maintain the integrity of the skin and mucous membranes, forming a barrier against infection. In addition, liver clearing drinks such as green tea, rose tea, and chrysanthemum tea can be used to reduce heat, clear fat, or consumed more as needed.
After the awakening of insects, there are gradually more wild vegetables, such as shepherd’s purse, bitter cabbage, bitter chrysanthemum, chicory, and magnolia head, which can be eaten in moderation. Most wild vegetables are rich in nutrients, as well as vitamin C and active ingredients that help prevent diseases. Eating more appropriately can help enhance the body’s immune system and resist the invasion of bacteria.
