Spring Greeting
On the Beginning of Spring, various activities are held to welcome the Spring, among which the most interesting one is the Spring Ox. It is said that in ancient times, Shao Hao, the leader of the Dongyi ethnic group, led his people to move to the Yellow River Basin and changed from nomadism to farming. His son is in charge of the matter. On the day of the Beginning of Spring, Gu Mang ordered the people to turn over the soil and plow the fields to prepare for sowing. However, the old ox, who had been leisurely for a whole winter, had not recovered, lying lazily in the cowshed to sleep, disobeying the commands of the people. So, the sentence mans thought of a way: the shape of the cow with clay, so that people use whips to beat the cow. The whir of the whip woke up the old cow, and they saw their own kind of whip, they quickly stood up and obeyed the command of the people, and went to work in the fields. Since then, the “Spring Ox Whip” has become the ceremony of the Beginning of Spring. Whipping the spring cattle means to beat the lazy cattle and get ready for the spring plowing of the new year.
Bitespring

Legend a long time ago, when people are ready to welcome the Beginning of Spring, suddenly the plague everywhere, infected people like drinking wine, top-heavy, and even lost the strength to lift their hands. The day before the Beginning of Spring, a Taoist priest came to a village. He saw that the village was surprisingly quiet, and came to the door of a family in the village, knocking on the door for a long time, and no one came to open. Later, he saw a middle-aged man passing by, and learned from the middle-aged man that everyone was infected with the plague. The Taoist quickly ran back to the temple, dug up a bag of stored turnips, and ran to the village with them. The Taoist found a big rooster from a family in the village, pulled out a few chicken feathers, and stuck it on the ground. After a while, the chicken feathers stuck in the ground suddenly moved. The man cried out in surprise: “The air is clear! The air is clear!” He went from house to house in the village and asked people to nibble on raw turnips. As a result, people ate raw radishes and got rid of sickness. The plague was finally lifted, and people lived in peace again. Since then, people in the Beginning of Spring day started eating raw turnip, in order to Ping An. The custom of “biting spring” was thus formed.
