夏时节 万物繁茂 | Everything flourishes in Summer

立夏吃罢中饭，有秤人的习俗。古诗云：“立夏秤人轻重数，秤悬梁上笑喧闺。”人们挂起一杆大木秤，秤钩悬一根凳子，大家轮流坐到凳子上面秤人。

Weighting people.

根据史料记载，我国古时每年“立夏”节气，在民间形成了吃粥、挂蛋等习俗。民间传说，立夏这天喝立夏粥可保一年平平安安、无病无灾。

Drink porridge. According to folklore, if people drink porridge during this season, the year will be peaceful and safe, healthy.  

立夏这一天，按照中国人的传统习俗，要变着花样吃各种饭，如乌米饭、豌豆糯米饭等，其主料都是最最平常的米饭，但因为加进了各种时令的料，则变换出不同的颜色。

Eat Summer rice. On this season, according to the traditional Chinese customs, various kinds of rice should be eaten in different ways, such as udon rice, pea glutinous rice, etc.

很多地方有“立夏尝鲜”之俗。人们品尝时令食物，以求健康吉祥。

Try something new. People taste seasonal foods, keep healthy and wealthy.

立夏季节，福州风俗流行煮鼎边“做夏”。鼎边糊，又称锅边糊，是用米浆涮锅边烧煮而成，配以虾米、虾油、葱菜、金针、黑木耳、蚬子，或少量香菇、蛏干等海鲜清汤，其味极为荤美可口。

Make a summer dish.

我国北方多种植小麦，立夏正是小麦上场时节。因此，北方大部分地区立夏时有制作与食用面食的习俗，意在庆祝小麦丰收。立夏的面食主要有夏饼、面饼和春卷三种。

Eat cooked wheaten food. Wheat is grown in northern part, and Lixia is the time when wheat is the most fresh. Therefore, in most parts of the north, there is a custom of making and eating pasta at the beginning of summer, which is intended to celebrate the harvest of wheat.  Cooked wheaten food mainly includes summer cakes, noodles and spring rolls.

我国江西、扬州等地有立夏饮茶的习俗。夏天酷暑炎热，经常喝茶，尤其是偏凉性的绿茶，可以让暑气顿消，起到清热解暑、利尿排毒的作用。

Drink tea. Jiangxi, Yangzhou and other places in our country have the custom of drinking tea duirng summer saeson. In summer, it’s very hot andd drinking tea often, especially cool green tea, can relieve the heat and detoxify.

古代，人们非常重视立夏，还有习俗说，立夏日不迎夏，会有病灾缠身。当然，这仅为民间习俗，是为了求得身体康健等一种说法。

Welcome summer. In ancient times, people attached great importance to Lixia, and there is a custom to welcome summer otherwise it will be disaster. Of course, this is only a folk custom.
