很难想象一个单亲妈妈是怎样带着两个年纪尚小的孩子在一个语言不通、文化和宗教信仰都不同的国家里生活的!
我是无比的幸运，做了很棒的选择。
两年前我从巴基斯坦来到厦门。当时，我刚刚经历艰难的离婚过程，因为我出生在一个保守的家庭，所以我和我的孩子对未来的选择是非常有限的。在来到中国之前，我当了八年的蒙特梭利老师，我是一个穆斯林女人，一个生活在必须争取自己权利的国家。我想：我在干什么？只想简单地生存下去？还是要把人生转变成为一次惊人的冒险？我要为我的孩子们树立什么样的榜样？我们所能做的就是接受这种生活状况吗？或是我们可以选择我们想要的东西？
所以我选择来到中国，厦门国际阳光灿烂蒙特梭利学校给了我一个实现理想的机会。
当登上从卡拉奇飞往中国的飞机时，我是那么的紧张，心中有千千结，但是当我踏上厦门这片热土，到了厦门机场的那一刻，我所有的忧虑便消失的无影无踪。
我越看越喜欢厦门这个城市。厦门是一个如此美丽的岛屿，有着丰富迷人的文化传统。这里的人们纯洁、善良、乐于助人，最值得一提的是人与人之间的真诚相待。每当我交到一个新朋友时，我都会惊叹于厦门人民会是如此的欢迎我和我的孩子们，给我们带来了无比的温暖。
回首过去的两年，我内心无比感激。我有一份我喜欢的很棒的工作，居住在一个优美的社区，我的公寓很漂亮，我有许多的好朋友，在这儿，我的孩子们也是如此的快乐与安定。厦门真是一个非常吸引人的地方，我，30多岁，离婚，一个棕色皮肤的外国人，可以让我离开我的祖国来到厦门的“家”。

How does a single mother of two young children come to live in a country where she cannot speak the language, is unfamiliar with the culture and practices a different religion?
Through a stroke of remarkable good luck and some great choices.I came to Xiamen two years ago from Pakistan. I had just finished a difficult divorce and, coming from a conservative family, I had very limited options regarding my own and my children’s future. I had been working as a Montessori teacher for eight years, living in a country where I had to fight for my rights as a Muslim woman. And then I thought, what am I doing? Am I going to simply survive or am I going to turn my life into an amazing adventure? What exampleam I setting for my children? Is all we can do is take what life offers, or can we choose what we want?
So I made a choice, and International Sunshine Home in Xiamen gave me the chance to make it a reality.
I was so nervous when I got on the plane in Karachi, Pakistan, a thousand doubts crowding my mind, but all of them vanished by the time I exited the airport at Xiamen.
The more I saw, the more I fell in love with the city. Xiamen is such a beautiful island, rich with fascinating cultural traditions and practices. The people are pure, kind, helpful and most importantly, sincere with each other. Every time I make a new friend I marvel at the warmth with which the people of Xiamen have welcomed my children and me.
When I look back on the past two years I can’t help but feel grateful. I have af antastic job doing what I love, I have a beautiful apartment in a lovely neighborhood, I have absolutely wonderful friends, and my children are so happy and settled. Xiamen is a very singular place indeed, one where a 30-something, divorced, brown-skinned foreigner can call her home away from home.
