教学生涯里的每一天都会有很多大大小小的事给我带来欢乐,但当我亲眼看到孩子享受胜利时尤其让我开心。每个孩子都是独一无二的,充满了潜能,而这些胜利的小瞬间让这些可能性可见一斑。
有一天,我观察着Leona做着纺锤棒箱的工作。她正按着我前几周给她讲解的方法在进行着,正确地把数字0-4和纺锤棒的数量对应起来。她明白0表示什么都没有,这对幼儿来说是个比较难理解的概念。很高兴看到她掌握了这个教具的使用,尤其因为她是小朋友中第一个掌握的。
她的所作所为让我想起为什么要教幼儿蒙特梭利。能看到他们成长、绽放,是种莫大的荣幸。她脸上的满足与幸福让人很受感动,因为她是为自己而做,而不是为了什么好处或让大人、父母给她奖励。那天,她学会的不仅仅是数和量,她获得了独立完成工作的满意感,她学会了为自己而做,不需他人在旁观察。——Sonia
One day I observed Leona at work with the Spindle Box. She was doing the work just the way I had presented it to her a few weeks earlier. She correctly matched the written numbers zero to four with the quantity of spindles. She knew that "0" represented "nothing," which can be a difficult concept for young learners. I was so happy to see her master the material, not least because she was the first of her peers to master the Spindle Box.
Her actions reminded me why I teach Montessori to young children. It's an incredible privilege to see them grow and blossom. The satisfaction and happiness on her face was really touching because she was doing it for herself, not for my benefit or for an external reward from an adult or parent. On that day, she learned more than just numbers and quantity. She learned the satisfaction of work well done independently and for its own sake, regardless of anyone else’s observation.
