孩子对于个人尊严、争取独立有很深的感受。而自信是从自理能力中发展而来的。
独立性的发展促进自尊和个性的发展。
孩子自然想要感受和充分参与日常活动。大于2.5岁的孩子已经不是小宝宝了,也不应该再被当成小宝宝对待。孩子会自己做的事就该留给孩子做,减少孩子的依赖。为孩子做些不必要的事会让大人更方便,但是会让孩子放慢通向自由的脚步。
自理能力具体指的是关心环境、照顾自己,有让自己的需求被知道的能力。蒙特梭利的课堂材料教会孩子生活自理所需要的基本技能。

Every child wants to feel and be a full participant in daily activities. Children over age of 2.5 are no longer babies and should not be treated as such. Things a child can do himself should be left to the child, to reduce culture of dependence. Doing things unnecessarily for child may be more convenient but slows pathto freedom.
Functional independence is the care of the environment and of the self, and includes an ability to make needs known. Our in-class materials teach the basic skills needed for functional independence in daily life.
