English Circle activities in an Etonkids International Class are still another Montessori method of education experience for our students. In the International class the lead teacher is both the English specialist and a Montessori education method. Montessori education method is basically a way of educating young children that stresses development of a child’s own initiative and natural abilities, especially through practical play.
在伊顿国际班,主班老师既是英语老师,也是蒙台梭利老师。蒙台梭利的教育方法强调基于幼儿自身能力的基础上,通过实践活动来发展其能力,是一种对幼儿的基本教育方法,伊顿幼儿园的国际班英语课对于幼儿而言是蒙氏教育的另一种形式。
Special Circle Place in the Classroom
教室内的特定区域—-圈上活动区域( Circle activity)
There is a special place for Circle Time in the middle of our classroom. Every child in our class knows that it’s time for Circle when they hear the music played on our class stereo system. Children tidy up their work, then take off their shoes and put them neatly in one line in the class library area. Then they go and sit down in the middle of the classroom on the designated spots that shape a big ellipse. There we start our Circle Time with singing English songs. Each song children sing three times, because it takes the repetition for our brain to remember the lyrics and music.
在我们教室中间有一个特定的区域,是用小圆点组成的大椭圆。每个圆点代表着一个小朋友的位置,这是一日教学活动开始的地方。音乐声是英文课开始的标志,当孩子们听到收工作音乐时会将手上的工作材料放回原位,然后走到图书区的摆鞋线旁,脱下鞋子整齐摆放。最后迅速来到老师身边找到一个圆点坐好。英文活动是以唱歌曲开始的,每首歌曲唱三遍,这样有助于我们的大脑记忆歌词和曲调。
Singing & Dancing

Singing and dancing improve right and left brain hemispheres connectivity and bring children the feeling of happiness. Singing English action songs is also the fastest way for children to learn new English words and expressions, which they easily remember due to the rhythm and funny movements accompanying the songs.
歌曲舞蹈的结合会提高幼儿的左右脑连通性,幼儿因此会有幸福的感觉。唱英文歌是幼儿学习第二语言最有效的方法,不但可以帮助幼儿记忆新单词和表达方式,而且通过歌曲和动作的结合可以更好的帮助他们记忆教学内容。
Circle Grace & Courtesy Greeting Activities
教学活动中关于“优雅礼仪”的培养
After singing and dancing we great each other with various activities, that involve a lot of movement and saying “Hello!” in many different ways. These greeting activities bring excitement and desire to learn English. They also teach children how to make small talk, observe the grace and courtesy rules, and show them how to initiate a conversation.
音乐活动后我们会通过多种方式来开展互相问好活动。通过这些多样的问候活动会激发出幼儿学习英语的兴趣和愿望。这些活动开展的同时会教会幼儿如何和他人发起谈话,通过观察我们的优雅与礼仪规则,幼儿会展现出他们是怎么如何和他人开始交流的。
Large Group Presentations by Children
幼儿主导的集体展示活动
Large group activities in a mature Montessori classroom are a great way for children to practice presenting materials to the whole class. Children watch these presentations with attention and learn more eagerly from their classmates than from the adults/teachers. Presenting activities to their classmates boosts children’s confidence and provides the opportunity to practice leadership skills.
在一个成熟的蒙台梭利教室里,幼儿主导的集体展示活动是向全班幼儿展示工作材料的很好的一种方法。在展示的过程中,其他幼儿会全神贯注的观察主导幼儿的一举一动,比起成人/教师来他们会更容易的从同伴身上学到东西。这一活动不仅会增强幼儿的自信心,还会为幼儿提供发展其领导力的机会。
Once children see one of them in the teacher’s role, they start wishing they could get a chance to try out the teacher’s role. After all, every child has a strong desire to grow and model the adults in their life. Involving children into large group activities presentations will also result into making them better observers of the activities presented by the adults.
当幼儿看到某一个幼儿扮演起老师的角色时,他们会开始期望自己也有机会去尝试。毕竟,每一个孩子都有强烈的模仿成年人的愿望。通过这一活动,有助于幼儿在下一次成人主导活动中其观察能力的培养。
Circle Time Reading Activities
线上阅读活动
Keeping all circle activities short and interactive will prepare children and keep them quiet during the short dramatic reading and book picture walk activities. I never make it a purpose to finish the book in one Circle. I often choose just to “walk” children through the book pictures discussing with them the things that we see. If I have to read, I just read one or two pages and put a bookmark in, so that we can continue our reading tomorrow. Successful Circle Time reading for a large group of children is conditioned by involving the young listeners as much as possible. As I read or retell dramatically, I often ask questions, discuss the illustrations with children, ask them to repeat key words and phrases. I also ask the older students with a good level of spoken English to retell the well-known theme books we study in-depth monthly.
短时间英语教学活动以及幼儿间的互动性,会培养幼儿在阅读过程中保持安静。每一次的阅读活动我从来不强求读完一本书,而是与幼儿一起“浏览”图书,谈论所见图片中的内容。我如果需要读故事给孩子们听,我也只是读一页或两页,然后放上书签,等到第二天再继续。一个成功的集体阅读活动一定是尽量让更多的幼儿参与进来的活动。当我和幼儿一起阅读或复述故事时,我经常会根据故事插图提问题,与他们一起讨论,请他们重复一些关键词和词组。我也会请年龄稍大的口语水平好些的幼儿来复述我们熟识绘本内容。
The Importance of Calendar Activities
重要的日历活动
The concept of calendar is very abstract for children ages 2,5 to 6. According to modern research, children usually grasp the time concept around the age of 7 or even older. Practicing with the calendar and date writing are very important and practical kindergarten activities, that will prepare children for elementary school. In my class we talk
about the date (including the day of the week, month, year, time of the day, and weather)every day during the morning Circle.
对于2.5-6岁的幼儿而言日历的概念太过抽象。根据近期调查发现,幼儿通常在7岁左右甚至更大一些才会懂得日历的概念。所以在幼儿园幼儿练习书写日历和日期尤为重要,通过不断地练习有助于学生对日历与日期的理解,也为他们未来的小学生活做好了准备。在班里的早晨圈上活动时间,我们每天都会谈论日期(包括年、月、日,时间和天气)。
Smiling at All Times
保持微笑
In our class all teachers know how reassuring and contagious a teacher’s smile can be! All children smile and laugh with the children and create a beautiful atmosphere of good teamwork and mutual trust.
我们班级的每位老师都明白微笑对于幼儿的作用,微笑有感染力可以积极的鼓励幼儿。幼儿用微笑以及他们爽朗的笑声创造了一个美好的、富有团队精神的、互相信任的学习氛围!
