大象班的孩子们

大家好，我叫Kirsi来自芬兰！我教瑞景和会展两个校区的大象班。大象班很多孩子接下来准备上公立小学，这意味着我们强调课堂技巧，如学习倾听和在课堂上举手后回答问题。
我们在课堂上有很多练习时间也就是我们所谓的围圈时间，这是很传统的教学时间。老师教导孩子们认真倾听老师所说的，然后理解其含义，并作出相应的回应，特别是在中文课和英文课，大象班的孩子们学习这些宝贵的技能为他们未来的学习生涯做更好的铺垫。
在蒙特梭利课上做工作时间我们会教孩子们自己思考如何解决问题。例如，他们自己要去寻找问题的答案，如太空火箭从地球到月球需要多长时间这个问题，孩子们可以在图书库里的英语书和中文书这些材料中寻找他们问题的答案。通常，在阅读和在书中找寻图片时，他们会和其他的小朋友们一起讨论他们的问题。
在外太空这个主题时，大象班的孩子们问了我一个惊人的现象也就是北极光。每个人都想看我家里北极光的照片。当我说，我想回我的家乡去看北极光时，好多孩子也都说他们也想去芬兰。我从内心里希望我们大象班的孩子们在他们以后的生活中成为冒险家和旅行家，我希望他们每个人都有一天会看到北极光！
Hi! My name is Kirsi and I come from Finland. I teach the Elephants at both Ruijing and Seaside. Many of our Elephants are preparing for their journey in the Chinese public school system. This means that we are emphasizing classroom skills such as listening and answering questions after raising hands during the lesson time. 
We have classes where we practice lesson times or what we call Circle Time, but with more traditional teaching times. The teacher teaches and the children work on concentrating on what is said to understand its meaning and to respond accordingly. Especially during Chinese and English language classes, the Elephants learn valuable skills for their future Chinese school life.
Montessori work gives them the skills of learning how to think themselves. For example, they find answers on their own to questions like how long does it take to go from the Earth to the moon by space rocket. In our library corner we have books in English and in Chinese that provide the tools for finding the answers to their questions. Often, they will discuss their questions with their friends while reading and examining the pictures in the books. 
During our Outer Space theme, the Elephants asked me about an amazing phenomenon called the Aurora Borealis (the Northern Lights). Everybody wanted to see my pictures of the Northern Lights from my home. When I said that I want to go to my hometown just to see the Lights again, many said they also want to go to Finland. I wish from the bottom of my heart that our Elephants will become adventurous in their lives and travels and I hope that each of them will someday see the Northern Lights!
