初到阳光灿烂工作，Hippos是我的第一个班级，孩子大都不怕生，这让我感觉很放松，如在家般自在。我被安排与一位经验丰富的蒙特梭利老师共事，她帮助我学会去“发现”孩子。我坚信：尽我们所能去教孩子，孩子反馈给我们的一定比我们给的更多！有一天，发生了一件事，更让我坚定这个信念。
一天早上我去医院做一年一次的体检，下午回校时，孩子们都在等我。我一走进教室，Peter和Rosie马上冲过来抱住我，喊着：“Amy妈妈，你回来了”。Rosie面带担心地连问了几个问题：“Amy妈妈，你生病了吗？你为什么要去医院？你现在感觉怎么样了？”她真挚的眼神让我感动的忍不住流泪了。
我从没有想过，原来这些孩子如此的爱我，甚至叫我“Amy妈妈”而不是Amy老师。这让我觉得我们不止是老师与学生，而是这大家庭里一部分。

When I first arrived at Sunshine Home to work in the Hippos homeroom, the children were not shy at all. They made me feel right at home. I was placed with an experienced Montessori teacher who helped me to “discover” children. I believe that as much as we teach them, they give even more to us. One day, something happened that made this truer than ever.
One morning I went to the hospital for my annual health check. I returned to class in the afternoon and the children were waiting for me. When I entered the classroom, Peter and Rosie rushed over and gave me a hug. Peter said, “Mommy Amy, you are back.” Rosie worriedly asked a rush of questions: “Mommy Amy, are you sick, why did you go to the hospital, how do you feel?” Her sincere eyes were so touching that I couldn’t help but cry.
I never realized the kids would give me so much love, even calling me “Mommy Amy” rather than Teacher Amy. It made me feel on a personal level that we are not just teachers and students but a part of a larger family.
