The Waking of Insects, also known as “Qi Zhe”, is the third solar term in the twenty-four solar terms. The sun reaches the ecliptic longitude 345°, on March 5-6 of the Gregorian calendar.
Insect starter reflects the phenomenon that natural organisms germinate and grow under the influence of rhythm changes. When the sting is awakened, the yang qi rises, the temperature warms up, the spring thunder strikes, the rain increases, and all things are full of vitality.
The Waking of Insects is the beginning of the month of the stem and branch calendar; Mao is the month of mid-spring, when the hexagrams are in shock, it is the sign of growth. One year and twelve months, each month corresponds to a hexagram, and the Mao (including the two solar terms of The Waking of Insects and spring equinox) . During the period of “Mao” all things come out of the ground, representing vitality; therefore, the month of Mao (February) is also the month when the energy of all things bursts out.
The Waking
of Insects
As the saying goes, “In a light rain, all the flowers are new, and a thunder strikes the sting.” Reflecting the natural seasons, a year of spring ploughing has begun.
The Resurrection of All Things
The Waking
of Insects
The Waking of Insects reflects the phenomenon of sprouting and growth of natural organisms affected by rhythm changes. During the stinging season, spring is sprouting, and nature has a new vitality. The signature feature of the The Waking of Insects solar term is that the spring thunder is moving, and all things are full of vitality. The so-called “spring thunder stuns hundreds of insects” refers to the stinging season, the temperature rises, and the stinging insects that are hibernating underground for the winter are awakened. Peach is red and plum is white, Ying Mingyan comes, and the cuckoo urges the ploughing.
This period is very easy to get cold, fever and liver disease. We should pay close attention to prevent the flu in spring, eat light food to nourish the liver and spleen, eat more vegetables to clear the stomach, go to bed early and get up early to exercise more.
